“A goal is not always meant to be reached, it often serves simply as something to aim at.” - Bruce Lee

Frank Zane stands at 5’9? and typically competed at 185lbs, which is attainable without steroids. However he was quoted as saying that he has won shows both naturally and with steroids. They basically used them during cutting phases to maintain muscle mass.

Even so he was probably using lower doses of steroids (remember this is at a time when you could get them legally from your doctor.) Frank has stepped on stage at a ripped 195lbs during bodybuilding competitions and the extra 10lbs could be from drugs. Although maybe not… Only Frank knows for sure.

Even though he may have used some steroids to achieve his Olympia shredded physique, I want you to realize that he is mostly natural and wasn’t using steroids at anywhere near the same capacity as the pro bodybuilder’s of today do.

If you want to look like Frank Zane, you will have to do what Frank Zane did, I.e. take steroids.

Thanks for the comment Nick! That's true about Bruce. I haven't read "The Art of Expressing the Human Body", but it has been on my wish list for a little while. I'll have to go ahead and get it soon. I'm sure it is an awesome book. Yes, that is a great quote as well. It is sad, but true. Hopefully, we can change this! Take care

Great website, and it resonates very well for me. Body transformation is a passion of mine. I'm also a big admirer of Ueshiba and Bruce Lee too. The latter doesn't get enough recognition for the things he achieved outside of being a movie star. I've got most of the books that John Little has written in recent years. Have you read "The Art of Expressing the Human Body"?

I also liked your Thoreau quote at the top of the page. Another one I really appreciate is quoted in Dead Poets Society: "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them."
